Spirituality

THE PATH TO SPIRITUALITY IS NOT THROUGH THE MIND
THE TRUE PATH IS SURRENDERING TO THE HEART.

THERE IS NO USE JOURNEYING TO THE MOUNTAIN WHEN THE MOUNTAIN IS WITHIN YOU.

The true path to spirituality is the path of surrendering to the heart for that path demands that we go beyond the ego and its need to control and protect us from psychic pain . As such, true spirituality is grounded in the soul or soul consciousness and can only be accessed through LOVE.

Think of it like a tree whose roots go down deep and tap into our ultimate SOURCE - an underground river of soul consciousness that exists beyond time and space and ALSO beneath our deepest fears (the unified Field).

In essence, I am talking about soul centered spirituality versus ego centered spirituality. Unfortunately, much of today's spirituality is grounded in the ego and the need to look outside, to accomplish or prove something versus going inside and being grounded in love and compassion.

Thomas Moore, author of CARE OF THE SOUL, makes this same point in an interview in the June issue of SUN magazine:

"Unfortunately spirituality today apparently creates hierarchies of people, rules by which they can measure how well they are doing - titles, colored belts and initiations, etc ...the concerns are, How quickly can I become enlightened? Where can I find a great teacher? How can I have great sex?

In fact, there is a lot that goes on in the spiritual realm that I think is an escape from life. There is a tendency in much spiritual activity to withdraw from ordinary life, the body and the world.

SPIRITUALITY WORKS ONLY IF IT IS CONNECTED TO THE DEEP SOUL. This then becomes spirituality in tune with the human condition, not perfectionism or escapism."

I have a great deal of respect for the strategies and devices of the ego and how looking outside, going through the motions and being in your head can taint our spiritual pursuits.

Moore comments further on this apparent dichotomy:

"The same people who are out running and trying to get their bodies in shape are often the one's buying books and tapes about spirituality - but spirituality reduced to a kind of 'fitness' loses its awesome depth and sublimity.

Spirituality isn't a matter of individuals becoming perfect - it has to do with living a holy life , being motivated by profound compassion and feeling wide and deep love and a sense of community."

As for myself, my spirituality is soul centered and rooted in humbleness. For in taking the precarious path of the heart and willingly surrendering to LOVE - I have, indeed, climbed a mountain of inner fear and found at the crest a clearer vision and a greater sense of love and compassion for both myself and others. But even more than that, I am humbled by the awareness that I am part of something far greater than myself, or the limited vision of my ego, for my roots are now being nurtured by my deep soul connection to SOURCE - our ultimate sense of belonging and connection.

ONLY LOVE HEALS

ALLEN
